RE: The tariff classification of a women's 100% cotton woven
garment from Pakistan
Dear Ms. Patel:
In your letter dated April 24, 1989, you requested a
classification ruling.
One sample was submitted with your request.
The sample, style #4328/2055 is a 100% cotton woven garment.
It features a V-neckline with a three button closure, buttoning
right over left. It has capped sleeves, an inset pocket at the
left chest area, a patch pocket below the waist at the bottom
right side, and the bottom is rounded and hemmed. One size fits
all. The fabric is yarn dyed striped 100% woven cotton. it
extends from the shoulders to the calf of the leg, approximately
forty-four (44") inches in length.
The sample is being returned as requested.
The applicable subheading for the style #4328/2055 will be
6211.42.0050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States,
which provides for other garments, women's or girls', of cotton.
The duty will be 8.6% ad valorem.
This garment falls within textile category designation 341.
As a product of Pakistan, this merchandise is currently subject
to a visa requirement and quota restraints based upon
international textile trade agreements.
Due to the changeable nature of these agreements, you are
advised to contact your local Customs office prior to importation
of this merchandise to determine the current status of any import
restraints or requirements.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section
177 of the Customs Regulations.
A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry
documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the
documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be
brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the
transaction.
