RE: The tariff classification of Prepared Hot-Melt Adhesives from
Japan.
Dear Mr. Kelly:
In your letter dated on August 30, 1994, on behalf of your
client Rexene Corporation, you requested a tariff classification
ruling on four products. They will be classified as follows:
Item Classification Duty
RT 3280 3506.91.0000 2.1%
RT 3385 3506.91.0000 2.1%
RT 3535 3506.91.0000 2.1%
RT 3585 3506.91.0000 2.1%
The above hot-melt adhesives are designed, polymerized,
formulated, packaged, advertised, sold, and used as hot-melt
adhesives in the manufacture of roofing materials. They are
designed to hold together the globules of bitumen, encapsulating
the bitumen's volatile hydrocarbons, and enhancing the adhesive
properties of the roofing end product. These adhesives contain
copolymers including waxes ranging from 0.3 to 0.8 percent.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section
177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry
documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the
documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be
brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the
transaction.
Sincerely,
Jean F. Maguire
