RE: The tariff classification of red marble cutting board from China

Dear Mr. Daly:

In your letter dated March 24, 1994, you requested a tariff classification ruling regarding a red marble cutting board, style 451075. The board has a metal handle affixed to each end. The board measures eight inches wide and 12 inches long.

The sample submitted with your ruling request was sent to our Customs laboratory for analysis. The laboratory confirms that the sample is composed of marble.

The applicable subheading for the red marble cutting board will be 6802.91.1500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for marble...other. The duty rate will be 6 percent ad valorem. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Section 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).

A copy of this ruling letter should be attached to the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If the documents have been filed without a copy, this ruling should be brought to the attention of the Customs officer handling the transaction.

Sincerely,

Jean F. Maguire
