RE: The tariff classification of ethanol from Canada.
Dear Ms. Hutchinson:
This is a supplement to Ruling No. NY A88238 dated October
10, 1996, which concerned the classification of a 500 milliliter
plastic bottle labelled "Standard D'Alcool Ethylique." The
product was stated to contain 5 percent ethyl alcohol in
distilled water and was used for the calibration and testing of
breatherlizers. Subsequent to this ruling, you forwarded a
letter dated November 4, 1996 indicating that the subject
merchandise contains 0.5 percent ethyl alcohol (margin of
plus/minus 1 percent) and not 5 percent ethyl alcohol. All other
facts stated in the ruling remain unchanged.
A copy of this supplement or the control number indicated
above should be included whenever Ruling No. NY A88238 is
presented with the entry documents filed at the time this
