RE: The tariff classification of speaker components from Singapore
Dear Ms. Graddy:
In your letter dated May 3, 2002, on behalf of Chiba Metals PTE, Ltd., you requested a tariff classification ruling.
As indicated by the submitted samples, there are five items in question, identified as eyelets, insulators, terminals, terminal lugs, and connectors. With the exception of the eyelets, the remaining items are used as a means of connection for electrical wiring.
The applicable subheading for the eyelets will be 8308.10.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for hooks, eyes and eyelets. The rate of duty will be 1.1 cent per kilogram plus 2.9 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for the insulators, terminals, and terminal lugs will be 8536.90.4000, HTS, which provides for terminals, electrical splices and electrical couplings. The rate of duty will be Free. The applicable subheading for the connectors will be 8536.69.8000, HTS, which provides for lamp holders, plugs and sockets: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 2.7 percent ad valorem.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
