RE: The tariff classification of gloves from China.

Dear Ms. Kaehler:

In your letter dated February 7, 2003, you requested a tariff classification ruling.

Three samples were provided for review. Style 1002821 is pigskin leather gunn-cut glove with a vented fabric trimmed bottom and a partially elasticized wrist.

Style 0202898 is a clute cut glove with a complete palmside from the fingertips to the wrist constructed of a cowhide leather and a backside made of a woven fabric. The glove features a ribbed knit cuff.

Style 425-1JL1399 is a lined and insulated gunn-cut work glove with a complete palmside, backside thumb, forefinger, fingertip and knuckle reinforcements constructed of pigskin leather. The backside and the sewn-on vented cuff are made of a woven fabric. The glove features a partially elasticized wrist and fabric trim at the cuff bottom. The applicable subheading for Style 1002821 will be 4203.29.3010, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTS), which provides for Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of leather or of composition leather: gloves, mittens and mitts: other: other: other: men’s . . . not lined. The rate of duty will be 14 percent ad valorem.

The applicable subheading for style 0202898 will be 4203.29.1800, HTS, which provides for Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of leather or of composition leather: Gloves, mittens and mitts: Other: Other: Other. The rate of duty will be 14 percent ad valorem. The applicable subheading for style 425-1JL1399 will be 4203.29.3020, HTS, which provides for Articles of apparel and clothing accessories, of leather or of composition leather: gloves, mittens and mitts: other: other: other: men’s . . . lined. The rate of duty will be 14 percent ad valorem.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
