RE: The tariff classification of unisex martial arts uniforms from China.
Dear Mr. Lau:
In your letter dated April 11, 2007, on behalf of Jonie Marketing INC dba Jonie Uniforms, you requested a classification ruling. The samples will be returned to you.
The submitted samples are Martial Arts uniforms and tops made of woven 100% cotton fabric.
Item A is a Martial Arts uniform. The black colored blouse/shirt has white piping trim, long sleeves, mandarin collar and a full front opening with frog closures that close right over left. The black pants have an elasticized waistband and a white stripe trim down each leg.
Item B is a Martial Arts uniform. The solid color black sleeveless blouse/shirt has a mandarin collar and a full front opening with loops and a frog closure that closes right over left. The black pants have an elasticized waistband.
Item C is a Martial Arts uniform black short sleeve blouse/shirt with white piping trim, mandarin collar and no opening at the front with the exception of a loop and frog closure at the top that closes right over left.
Item D is a black short sleeveless blouse/shirt with a mandarin collar and a full front opening with frog closures that close right over left.
The applicable subheading for the Items A and B martial arts uniforms will be 6204.22.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Women’s or girls’ suits, ensembles, suit-type jackets, blazers, trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear): Ensembles: Of cotton: Judo, karate and other oriental martial arts uniforms." The duty rate will be 7.5% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 359.
The applicable subheading for the Items C and D blouse/shirt will be 6206.30.3041, HTSUS, which provides for “Women’s or girls' blouses, shirt and shirt-blouses: Of cotton: Other: Other: Other: Women’s.” The rate of duty will be 15.4% ad valorem. The textile category designation is 341.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
