RE: The tariff classification of a motor mount parts for blowers of unspecified origin
Dear Ms. Sippel:
In your letter dated July 15, 2008 on behalf of York International Corporation, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The articles in question are described as a motor mount arm, part number 026-34755-000, and a motor mount belly band, part number 026-34756-000. The arm and band are used to mount the motor in a motor/blower assembly. Technical drawings were submitted.
Fans, including blowers, together with their motors are provided for in heading 8414, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS). Based on the information provided, the mount arm and band are classified as parts of blowers because the parts are used to complete the blower/motor assembly.
The applicable subheading for the motor mount arm and band will be 8414.90.1080, HTSUS, which provides for other parts of fans (including blowers). The general rate of duty will be 4.7 percent ad valorem.
Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
A copy of the ruling or the control number indicated above should be provided with the entry documents filed at the time this merchandise is imported. If you have any questions regarding the ruling, contact National Import Specialist Kenneth Brock at (646) 733-3009.
