RE: The tariff classification of narrow woven ribbon from China
Dear Ms. Sims:
In your letter received in our office on July 29, 2010, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Classic Packaging.
A sample of the narrow ribbon was submitted with your request letter. The sample is being retained by this office. Your letter states the ribbon is 100% nylon, has a woven selvedge, is 5/8 inches wide, and is imported in 100 yard lengths wound on a spool.
The applicable subheading for the narrow woven ribbon will be 5806.32.1060, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for … other narrow woven fabrics, of man-made fibers, ribbons, …of a width not exceeding 12cm: of nylon: with woven selvedge: other. The rate of duty will be 6 percent ad valorem.
The merchandise in question may be subject to antidumping duties or countervailing duties. This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
