RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s suit-type jacket from China
Dear Mr. Yokopenic:
In your letter dated August 1, 2011, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your sample will be returned as requested.
Style 082255 is a woman’s suit-type jacket constructed from 100% cotton woven fabric. The jacket is composed of three or more panels sewn together lengthwise, two of which are in the front. The garment features a round neckline, long sleeves, two faux pockets at the waist, and a full front opening secured by seven button closures.
The applicable subheading for style 082255 will be 6204.32.2030, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Women’s or girls’ suits, ensembles, suit-type jackets, blazers, dresses, skirts, divided skirts, trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear): Suit-type jackets and blazers: Of cotton: Other: Other: Women’s. The rate of duty will be 9.4 percent ad valorem.
