RE: The tariff classification of digital light processing (DLP) multimedia cinema projectors from Canada
Dear Mr. Nowak:
In your letter dated October 11, 2011, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The merchandise under consideration is digital light processing (DLP) multimedia cinema projectors, models numbers CP2210, CP2220, CP2230, CP4220, and CP4230. All of these projectors are DLP types using three digital micromirror devices (DMD’s), with video diagonal displays measuring less than 34.29 cm. These cinema projectors are principally used in cinema theaters for projection of movies. These cinema projectors do not incorporate video recording and reproducing apparatus.
The applicable subheading for these video projectors will be 8528.69.4500, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Monitors and projectors, not incorporating television reception apparatus…Projectors: Other: Color: With a flat panel screen: Other: With a video display diagonal not exceeding 34.29 cm. The rate of duty will be Free.

This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
