RE: The tariff classification of Ammonium Bifluoride (CAS # 1341-49-7) from China
Dear Ms. Chan:
In your ruling request dated June 25, 2012, on behalf of Aslchem International Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling for Ammonium Bifluoride (CAS # 1341-49-7).
You have described the product as the chemical compound known as Ammonium Bifluoride (CAS # 1341-49-7). You state that the product at issue is used to dissolve silica for the oil and gas drilling industries.
The applicable subheading for Ammonium Bifluoride (CAS # 1341-49-7) will be 2826.19.1000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Fluorides; fluorosilicates, fluoroaluminates and other complex fluorine salts: Fluorides: Of ammonium. The general rate of duty will be 3.1 percent ad valorem.
This merchandise may be subject to the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), which are administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
