RE: The tariff classification of glass rhinestones from Korea.
Dear Salvato:
In your letter dated August 7, 2012, on behalf of Nipkow & Kobelt, Inc., you requested a tariff classification ruling. As requested, the samples submitted will be returned to you.
Samples of the following merchandise have been submitted to this office: the packet labeled, SS 6, contains 2 millimeter round crystal rhinestones made from glass; the packet labeled, SS 10, contains 2.8 millimeter round crystal rhinestones made from glass; and the packet labeled, SS 16, contains 4 millimeter round light sapphire rhinestones made from glass.
The applicable subheading for the glass rhinestones, will be 7018.10.2000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Glass beads, imitation pearls, imitation precious or semiprecious stones….: Imitation precious or semiprecious stones (except imitation beads thereof).” The rate of duty will be free.
Duty rates are provided for your convenience and are subject to change. The text of the most recent HTSUS and the accompanying duty rates are provided on World Wide Web at http://www.usitc.gov/tata/hts/.
This ruling is being issued under the provisions of Part 177 of the Customs Regulations (19 C.F.R. 177).
