RE: The tariff classification of Dihydroergotamine Mesylate (CAS-6190-39-2), imported in bulk form, from Italy
Dear Ms. Brunciak:
In your letter dated January 21, 2013, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product, Dihydroergotamine Mesylate, is an ergot alkaloid. It is indicated for the acute treatment of migraine headaches with or without aura and the acute treatment of cluster headache episodes.
The applicable subheading for the Dihydroergotamine Mesylate imported in bulk form will be 2939.69.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Vegetable alkaloids, natural or reproduced by synthesis, and their salts, ethers, esters, and other derivatives: Alkaloids of rye ergot and their derivatives; salts thereof: Other." The rate of duty will be free.
