RE: The tariff classification of a woman’s dress from the United Kingdom
Dear Ms. Persinger:
In your letter dated June 5, 2013, you requested a tariff classification ruling. Your sample will be returned as requested.
Style 2815BNG is a woman’s dress constructed from 41% polyester, 34% silk, and 25% cotton woven fabric. The front of the dress is covered with acrylic beads forming a grid-like pattern. The sleeveless dress extends from the shoulders to the knee area and features a partial back opening with a zipper closure and a hemmed bottom.
The applicable subheading for style 2815BNG will be 6204.43.2000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Women’s or girls’ suits, ensembles, suit-type jackets, blazers, dresses, skirts, divided skirts, trousers, bib and brace overalls, breeches and shorts (other than swimwear): Dresses: Of synthetic fibers: Other: Containing 30 percent or more by weight of silk or silk waste. The rate of duty will be 7.1 percent ad valorem.
