RE: The tariff classification of “Microglas Metashine 2025PST-M” from Japan
Dear Ms. Choo:
In your ruling request received November 4, 2014, you requested a tariff classification ruling on “Microglas Metashine 2025PST-M.”
You have described the product at issue as metalized glass flake used for special effect coatings. Our research indicates that this product is a metallic pigment used in the production of paints, varnishes, and inks. The provided “Safety Data Sheet” indicates that “Microglas Metashine 2025PST-M” is composed of glass oxide, silver, silicon dioxide, tin dioxide, and kerosene (petroleum) hydrodesulfurized.
The applicable subheading for “Microglas Metashine 2025PST-M” will be 3206.49.6050, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for Other coloring matter; preparations as specified in note 3 to this chapter, other than those of 3203, 3204 or 3205; Inorganic products of a kind used as luminophores, whether or not chemically defined: Other coloring matter and other preparations: Other: Other: Other. The general rate of duty will be 3.1 percent ad valorem.
