RE: The tariff classification of a shawl in a ball from Turkey
Dear Ms. Morrison:
In your letter dated June 13, 2016, you requested a tariff classification ruling on behalf of your client, Orchard Yarn.
You submitted a skein of yarn, identified as Shawl in a Ball which is composed of 61% cotton, 34% acrylic, 3% polyamide and 2% polyester. The yarn will be imported in a 150 gram skein which meets the tariff definition of “put up for retail sale” found in Section XI, Note 4(b) (ii), Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS).
The applicable subheading for Shawl in a Ball will be 5207.90.0000, HTSUS, which provides for cotton yarn (other than sewing thread) put up for retail sale, other. The rate of duty will be 5% ad valorem.
