RE: The tariff classification of Triamcinolone Acetonide (CAS No. 76-25-5) in bulk powder form, from Italy
Dear Ms. Heerdt:
In your letter dated June 12, 2017, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Triamcinolone Acetonide is a synthetic glucocorticoid with anti-inflammatory action. It is used to treat various skin conditions and to treat various joint conditions such as gouty arthritis, acute and sub-acute bursitis, acute non-specific tenosynovitis, epicondylitis, rheumatoid arthritis, synovitis and osteoarthritis.
The applicable subheading for the Triamcinolone Acetonide in bulk powder form will be 2937.22.0000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for "Hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, natural or reproduced by synthesis; derivatives and structural analogues thereof, including chain modified polypeptides, used primarily as hormones: Steroidal hormones, their derivatives and structural analogues: Halogenated derivatives of adrenal cortical hormones." The rate of duty will be free.
