RE: The tariff classification of para Nitrobenzoic Acid (CAS# 62-23-7) from China

In your letter dated July 17, 2018, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
The subject product is called para Nitrobenzoic Acid (CAS# 62-23-7). It is a single chemically defined compound and is not a mixture of any other chemical. para Nitrobenzoic Acid is used for metal treating and as a corrosion inhibitor.
The applicable subheading for the para Nitrobenzoic Acid (CAS# 62-23-7) will be 2916.39.7900, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for: Unsaturated acyclic monocarboxylic acids, cyclic monocarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides and peroxyacids; their halogenated, sulfonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives: aromatic monocarboxylic acids, their anhydrides, halides, peroxides, peroxyacids and their derivatives: other: other: other: other. The rate of duty will be 6.5 percent ad valorem.
