RE: The tariff classification of Apixaban (CAS No. 503612-47-3) in bulk powder form, from Spain
Dear Ms. Heerdt:
In your letter dated May 23, 2022, you requested a tariff classification ruling.
Apixaban is an anticoagulant indicated for the treatment of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE). It is also used in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation to reduce the risk of stroke and blood clots.
The applicable subheading for the Apixaban in bulk powder form will be 2933.79.0800, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Heterocyclic compounds with nitrogen hetero-atom(s) only: Lactams: Other lactams: Aromatic or modified aromatic: Other: Products described in additional U.S. note 3 to section VI.” Pursuant to General Note 13, HTSUS, the rate of duty will be free.
