The Foreign Service Act of 1980, referred to in text, is Pub. L. 96–465, Oct. 17, 1980, 94 Stat. 2071. Chapter 9 of title I of the Act is classified generally to subchapter IX (§ 4081 et seq.) of chapter 52 of Title 22, Foreign Relations and Intercourse. “Subchapter I of chapter 63 of title 5” substituted in text for “the Annual and Sick Leave Act of 1951” on authority of Pub. L. 89–554, § 7(b), Sept. 6, 1966, 80 Stat. 631, the first section of which enacted Title 5, Government Organization and Employees.

Section was formerly classified to section 1763 of this title.

1980—Pub. L. 96–465 substituted “chapter 9 of title I of the Foreign Service Act of 1980” for “title IX of the Foreign Service Act of 1946”.
